Question 1

Do you make the games?

Accepted Answer

No. Every game here was made by the person who published it, with whatever tools they chose — often AI ones. We host it, put a person in front of it before anyone can play it, and pay the authors whose games get played. We do not generate anything.

Question 2

Do I need an account to play?

Accepted Answer

No. Open a game and it runs in the tab you are already in. An account only starts mattering when you want a longer session, a rating, or a collection that follows you.

Question 3

How long can I play without paying?

Accepted Answer

Free games are free without limit. Games that earn give you free play time first — the play screen shows exactly what you have before anything starts, and nothing is taken away mid-game: when the time is up, the game stops on a screen that says so.

Question 4

Does anything install on my machine?

Accepted Answer

Nothing. A game is a web page: it loads, it runs, and closing the tab is uninstalling it.

Question 5

Will games run on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Most do — a game is a web page. Some are built for a keyboard, and the quickest way to know is the one that costs nothing: open it and see.

Question 6

Are my saves kept?

Accepted Answer

Each game writes its own save into its own storage on your device, and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser data clears saves; moving to another device does not carry them across.

Question 7

A game will not load. What now?

Accepted Answer

Reload the page first — a game loads like a web page, and most failures are one bad load. If it is still broken, report it from the game’s page: that reaches us and the author faster than a review does. How reporting works →

Question 8

Why has a game I played disappeared?

Accepted Answer

Either the author took it off the shelf or we did. If it was us, the page that replaces it says so, and the author gets the reasons in writing. What we restrict, and how →

Question 9

What does a subscription cost?

Accepted Answer

One subscription, one price, no tiers — there is nothing to compare or upgrade to. The price is shown at checkout, in full, before you confirm anything.

Question 10

What does paying actually get me?

Accepted Answer

Unlimited play on every game on the shelf, and the things that need a real account behind them. No session limit, on any game A collection that follows your account Ratings and reviews you can write

Question 11

Do games sell things inside them?

Accepted Answer

No. There are no in-game purchases, no ads, and no per-game price — a game is either on the shelf or it is not.

Question 12

Can I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Any time, from your account, and it keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for. We do not ask you why.

Question 13

Do you give refunds?

Accepted Answer

If a charge should not have happened, write to us from the email on the account and say what happened. A refund goes back the way it was paid. Contact us →

Question 14

How much of my money reaches the author?

Accepted Answer

Authors keep 85% of what their play time earns, paid monthly. The rest pays for hosting, payments, and the people who review games and read reports.

Question 15

Who can publish here?

Accepted Answer

Anyone with a game that runs in a browser — in waves, while every game gets a human review. Put your name down on the home page and we reply with an invite when your wave opens.

Question 16

What does it cost to publish?

Accepted Answer

Nothing to publish, and nothing to keep your game online while we build. We take a share of what your game earns, which means we are paid only when you are.

Question 17

What can I upload?

Accepted Answer

A folder of static web files, zipped, with an index.html at the root, up to 50 MB. No servers, no native binaries, nothing that needs a plugin.

Question 18

Do I have to say I made it with AI?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Disclosure is on by default and sits on your listing as plain metadata rather than a disclaimer — you only turn it off by asserting that no model was involved.

Question 19

Can I publish the same game somewhere else?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Nothing here is exclusive. The licence you grant us is non-exclusive and covers hosting, running and promoting your builds — keep the game on your own site, on itch.io, anywhere you like.

Question 20

How long before my game is live?

Accepted Answer

The scan starts by itself when you upload, and you can watch it run. After the scan, a person reviews the game before it goes live — nothing ships without that review, and we do not promise a turnaround. If the scan flags something, you see the exact check that raised it.

Question 21

Can I replace a build after publishing?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as often as you like. Each new build goes through the same scan, and when it is live it replaces the old one for everyone at once — players are never asked to update.

Question 22

How do games get onto the front page?

Accepted Answer

Either the ranking put it there, or an editor chose it — and when an editor chooses, the surface says so. The ranking is written down in full, including what it deliberately ignores. How ranking works →

Question 23

When do payouts arrive?

Accepted Answer

Monthly, for the month before, once your balance passes $25. Payouts need a verified payout account — that is the first time we ask for anything beyond an email.

Question 24

Is it safe to play a game I have never heard of?

Accepted Answer

Every game runs on its own separate origin, walled off from your account and from every other game, under security rules the game itself cannot change. A person reviews every build before it goes public. That is why nothing has to be installed, and why a game cannot reach anything of yours.

Question 25

How do I report a game?

Accepted Answer

Every game’s page has a report action. Say what you saw in a sentence; a build number helps if you have one. How reporting works →

Question 26

What happens after I report something?

Accepted Answer

A person reads it. If we act, the author gets the reasons in writing and can contest them; if we do not, the report closes and the game stays as it is.

Question 27

Will the author know it was me?

Accepted Answer

No. Authors see what was reported and why, never who reported it.

Question 28

What gets a game taken down?

Accepted Answer

Three kinds of thing, and we say which one applied. It breaks the law where we host it It takes someone else’s work as its own It is built to harm the person playing it The content policy, in full →

Question 29

Can a decision be appealed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every restrictive decision comes with its reasons in writing and a way to reply, and an appeal is read fresh rather than rubber-stamped.

Question 30

Do you check whether a game is a copy?

Accepted Answer

Every build is scanned and then read by a person, and neither is perfect. Reports do the rest — and a copyright notice has its own route, handled separately from moderation. How to send a copyright notice →

Question 31

How do I sign in?

Accepted Answer

With your email address and a password. If you lose the password, the reset link on the sign-in page emails you a new way in.

Question 32

Why do I have to verify my email?

Accepted Answer

Playing without an account needs nothing. An account starts working once its address is verified — reviews, payouts and everything else an account says to other people hang off an address someone actually holds.

Question 33

Can I change my email address?

Accepted Answer

Not from the account page yet. Write to us from the address on the account and we will help you move it. Contact us →

Question 34

What do you keep about me?

Accepted Answer

The account itself, what you played and for how long, and what you paid. Game saves live on your device and we cannot read them.

Question 35

Can I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Yes, from your account. Asking to delete opens a thirty-day close — nothing is deleted on the day you ask, and you can stop it at any point in those thirty days. After that, the account, the email address and the sessions are erased. Your reviews go with it.

Question 36

The sign-in email never arrives.

Accepted Answer

Check the spam folder first, then ask for another — verification and reset links expire after 24 hours, so an older one saying “expired” is normal. If nothing ever arrives, write to us from the address you are trying to use. Contact us →
